CHEMICAL PEELS AT MERAKI

A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck, or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun.

FAQ'S

A chemical peel is a procedure that involves applying a solution of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) or Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) to remove damaged layers of skin. The appropriate SkinMedica or VI Peel is applied to your skin, which causes the damaged skin layers to peel off revealing healthier, younger looking skin underneath. Chemical peels can reduce or improve fine lines, wrinkles, acne, scars, uneven skin tone, and other skin imperfections.

During your treatment, your esthetician will continuously check in with you to determine sensitivity. We utilize personal fans to minimize discomfort. Sensation is normal during a chemical peel, but we monitor your discomfort and end the peel when your tolerance to the peel is met. Skin is calmed until patients feel no discomfort before leaving the office.

During your skincare consultation, we assess your goals and concerns. Your esthetician will pick the appropriate peel to achieve your desired result. We have three levels of SkinMedica peels, Illuminize, Vitalize, and Rejuvenize. We also offer VI Peels, a medium-depth peel designed to life pigment, remove sun damage, alleviate acne and scarring, and fight fine lines and wrinkles. Some downtime, including light to moderate peeling, should be expected depending on the depth of your peel. Sun exposure should be avoided before and after treatment.

Some downtime is associated depending on the type of chemical peel used. Patients should avoid sun exposure for at least one week prior to treatment, and one week after. Peeling starts around day 2 post-treatment, and continues until around day 5. Peeling varies person to person. Patients should not pick or pull at peeling skin, and exclusively use post-care products until peeling is finished.

During your initial consultation, your esthetician will develop a treatment plan to determine how many chemical peels you will need to reach your desired result. Patients typically see an improvement in their skin after their first chemical peel.

Chemical peels treat a variety of skin concerns like hyperpigmentation, acne, texture, and fine lines + wrinkles. We carry different SkinMedica peels and VI Peels treatments to address different skin concerns. We have chemical peels that cause no downtime or peeling, and give you an instant glow as well.
